PS3 outsells Wii in Japan for the 10th consecutive week

The Playstation 3 has now outsold the Nintendo Wii in Japan for the 10th week in a row, according to Media Create. The streak started with the release of Yakuza 3 at the end of February. It was followed by Resident Evil 5 the next week and the Final Fantasy XIII demo in April.

The streak was also helped by the lack of exciting new game releases on the Nintendo Wii. The lone exception was Monster Hunter G, which modestly bumped up hardware sales in late April. Even with the power of the Monster Hunter franchise, the Nintendo Wii still couldn’t outsell the Playstation 3 for the April 20th week and the one after.

Using Media Create numbers, here is a week-by-week breakdown of the battle during the streak:
